At moderate momenta and energies nuclei can be understood as interacting nucleons. I will briefly describe the computational techniques used to help understand these strongly interacting quantum systems, discuss some implications of this picture of nuclei, and present applications ranging from weak processes and electron scattering in light nuclei to the properties of neutron matter.
