Sample exams for first Physics 107 midterm

  • Here is the first exam from the fall of 2001. Just as this year, it covered up through chapter 4. Here are the answers to the exam. (WARNING: On the answer to 2a, I wrote m/sec, and it should be km/hr., so I lose a couple of points. Mea culpa...). Note that only numerical answers are given. On the actual exam, you will be expected to show your work completely (no credit for just writing the number down, even if it is correct). Note also that I saved some trees by compressing the exam to one page. You will have one page for each of the four problems.
  • Here is a copy of the equation sheet that will be provided. Warning: a "t" is missing from one of the projectile motion equations.
  • Here are the solutions to all of the Review and Synthesis problems for chapters 1-5, located in the text at the end of Chapter 5.
  • Here is 3/4 of an exam from 2006- the student's work is included, but his/her name is crossed out. The solutions might not be exactly the way I would do it, but they are close (and he/she did miss two points). The fourth problem was from chapter 5, which was included on that exam but not on this one. Note: in one place the student answered with an angle that is 90 degrees different from the correct answer, but we didn't count off--as long as the picture is correct, it's ok.
  • Last year's exam (the three relevant questions) with worked out solutions, as done in class Friday
  • Here is the solution to exam 1.
