Hello! I've noticed that, for the last few months, I've been getting a ton of hits from a message board at "gathering.tweakers.net".... I don't speak any Dutch, so I can't tell if you like this page or not. Feel free to contact me if you have any feedback. "Bedankt" for visiting!

I get a kick out of creating my own buildings- I've tried to make them into a complete set, rather than design a couple kick-ass ones that don't really fit in. The set I've worked most on is called "DanCity." It started out as a version of the futuristic city from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, but has pretty much become a set of semi-futuristic white buildings. At right is one of my favorites from this set, the stadium.

The first building I made that still exists is the "church" at far left. I think of it as more of an inspirational building than a church, but you can call it whatever you want. At center left is the Steiner Colossus, a large statue of the all-powerful mayor of DanCity. At near left is the mayor's house, based on the style I adopted for the small residential buildings. On the lawn you can see Mayor Dan in his black suit, and Mrs. Dan next to him. If the animation worked in this gif format, he'd be waving at you, and the Colossus' fearsome eyes would be flashing with power.
The set is a work in progress- As you make more and more buildings, you get better, and when you look back on your originals, you feel the need to rebuild. My house went through five or six incarnations, but I think I like the version above. Another building that has been subjected to frequent demolition and redesign is the City Hall. At right is the current version, which I like reasonably well. Lately I've been remaking all of the large residential buildings- They weren't very large. I've found it very helpful to make a city that fits my tileset, as it makes it easier to find buildings that don't really fit in any more. Download my city here, or below....

mall.gif (4248 bytes) This is the mall I designed- I like how the windows turned out. The top floor area is probably a food court.

Here is my "historic office building." It went through several redesigns, and this current one recently came out of nowhere.

At left is the latest arcology- The Stone Arco. It started as a joke, but I liked it. I'm just starting on the texture for the sides. At bottom left is the Subterranean Arco. I always have a hard time ruining the skyline of my suburbs, just to get another arco on the map. I can place this arco anywhere without sacrificing the neighborhood. At bottom right is the Tower Arco. You have to have a big-ass tower.

If you've got the game SimCity 2000, you can play using my buildings- It's called a "tile set." Download the set below, and then while you're playing, choose the "load tile set" option from the pull down menus. Choose this file, and you'll be playing in style!

Download the tile set: DanCity

At right is a shot from the city I'm making to fit the tile set. It's not intended for use as an actual SimCity2000 functioning city, as there is no water or power, and probably never will be. I've made it for purely aesthetic reasons, and in some areas power lines would ruin the look I was going for. To view the city as I intend it, you'll need to download my tileset, DanCity. Remember- It's a work in progress since the tileset isn't even done.
