The Clog is threatened! Parallel development is inevitable.... On the cosmic
timescale eight years is a blink of the eye, but on the information superhighway it's a
pretty long frickin' time. At least it happenned on a pretty good website....
If these words were
people, I would embrace their genocide. (scroll
way down to see my point)
Of course, I use pico instead of vi as my text editor, so despite the
similarities in our design we are as mortal of enemies as ninjas and pirates.

Went to see Episode III.... There's one or two things that I think were interesting.
The writing and directing were uninspired, but I thought that most of the acting
performances were pretty good. I didn't feel any adrenaline rush, didn't see any
improvements on the fight scenes from Episode I.... Every time there was some decision
that could have made this an epic story Lucas went the other way. Instead of
capitalizing on the philosophical and political aspects of the story that he's blown
two prequels on, the script is filled with cute cameos by characters from the first
trilogy.
Read about my problems with Episode III....

I found a big hairy spider in the door well of the Geo today.... Kind of scary. It had
a red thing on it's back, but didn't look like a black widow. He seemed content enough
to chill in there while I went to lunch, and he obviously didn't mind being between the
door and the car frame, so away we went! Hopefully he won't take up permanent
residence.

I just saw a commercial where some grunge-type guy was playing a slide-guitar version of "Danny Boy" using a bottle of Heineken....
It actually sounded more Indian than anything else. Is it just me, or is that too many cultures for one semi-palatable beer?

- My Life, to this Point
Come and listen to the story of a humble man named Dan. Read
and gather vital clues to understanding this key figure of our times. Someday you'll say,
"Wow, I saw his homepage when he was just that guy from Wisconsin." Be
warned that I wrote much of this years ago and it reads pretty old....
- My Philosophy
People often think that there isn't much going on in my head.
Once they get to know me, they realize that there's a lot going on in there, but they just
don't get it. Maybe this will help. I won't lie to you and say that I'm adding more to it
everyday, but I have recently read it and it wasn't as cheesy/offensive as I remember.
- Recent Thoughts
This is a pretty half-assed version of a blog, but it gets updated
more often than the other stuff. Most entries will be cheap and semi-coherent, but if you know
me you're probably used to that.

- Watched an estimated 60,000 hours of television; Witnessed
an estimated 300,000 portrayals of violence
- Consumed an estimated 8000 beers, 2000 pounds of pizza
- Graduate School
I've moved east to historic Williamsburg, VA to attend The College of William and Mary,
where I am working towards my PhD in Experimental Physics.
I'm in my fifth year of study; most of my time is spent on research for my thesis
experiment, E94-016. The web docs summarizing my current work are
available....
- Move around once in a while
Getting old and fat and slow is scary, so
I may need to physically exert myself more than is required
by the two flights of stairs it takes to get to my office.
- Read
Cut back time spent being irradiated by television; Increase time
spent excercising mind. You can see what I've been reading lately by checking out the navigation bar, or going to my Book Rating Scale.
- The Clog
I like updating my homepage; it soothes me. Ideally, people
would notice all of my changes, but it doesn't really matter.
- The College of William and
Mary: Department of Physics
I am being supported by the William &
Mary Hadronic Physics Group. My job is to assist in the analysis of data
from E94-016. Hopefully, this analysis will provide a subject for my PhD thesis, which I
expect to finish sometime in the next year or two.
- My Parents
Physics is one of the fields where you're paid to go to grad school, so I haven't
needed very much external support. But, it should be noted that I do
reap the benefits of having a generous family that bankrolls my trips home and the
occasional extravagant gift(s).
Side Note- Erick's golden Porsche hasn't run in a couple of years now, but he's still got it.... |

Surely you can think of a reason why my homepage sucks,
even more than most; Don't like the content? Too much content? Not enough animated gifs?
No links to your favorite sites? No neat backgrounds? Have an irrational overpowering fear
of angry cartoon badgers? If I can think of a bunch, so can you. Send 'em to me; I've made
a page dedicated to people who have something to say. Sometimes, you just have to give
back.....
Visit my cool Clog Survey Page! This is the easiest way
to answer my call- You don't even have to write an entire email. Just answer the little
questions I ask, and maybe you'll win a prize! If you like, look at the submissions other
people have sent me on the response page.

This page is mine- Not
yours! Steal it, and well.... I'll be mad.
Actually, I don't mind. Go ahead, I'm used to it.
